LHPM LABORATORY HANDPIECE MAINTENANCE

When performing laboratory work, USE A SUFFICIENT VACUUM SYSTEM. Use the KNIT SLIPCOVER over the vented areas. Apply LIGHT PRESSURE WHILE CUTTING to avoid overheating the micromotor and wearing the carbon brushes. DO NOT OIL the LHPM. DO NOT OPEN CHUCK TO CEASE ROTATION.

Important: make sure that the METAL SHEATH, under the RUBBER SLEEVE, is screwed on tightly.

1. Daily Dusting with a Toothbrush and a Damp Towel:

Do not allow dust to accumulate on the handpiece. After dusting all surfaces, slide the slipcover away from the vented areas and GENTLY blow air throught the handpiece vents and cone section. The KNIT SLIPCOVER may be washed to keep it dust free.

2. Weekly Chuck Cleaning with the CHUCK WRENCH:

Pull off the RUBBER SLEEVE from the cone. Using the protruding pin on the CHUCK WRENCH, pull the cone straight off. Remove the chuck from the handpiece as shown. Clean the chuck and the hole in the spindle. Screw the chuck back into the spindle firmly to obtain full chucking power and function. Replace a weak or vibrating chuck; replacement chucks are available for $30 in three diameter sizes.

3. Replacement of Carbon Brushes/Repairs:

Replacement of carbon brushes and other repair work may be performed on LHMP Lab Handpieces only when the MPT Multipurpose Tool and LHPM Service Manual have been purchased. When carbon brushes wear out, the handpiece assembly, including cord, should be sent in to OSADA, Inc. for full service.

SEND IN YOUR HANDPIECE ASSEMBLY (LHPM w/Cord) TO OSADA, INC. IN LOS ANGELES, FOR A COMPETE CHECK-UP IF:

*Please enclose a note with your name, address, and telephone number to avoid delays. Normal repairs require one to two business days. UPS Blue Label (2nd day) or UPS Red label (Overnight) is recommended.

NOTE: After repairs, it is normal for the handpiece to feel warmer than usual. New bearings require a short break-in period before settling into proper operating position. Please use caution during this period not to overheat or exert excessive pressure on the handpiece.

On all repaired LHPM handpieces, we have attached Osada's new rubber LAB SLEEVE onto the cone section and KNIT SLIP COVER over the vented areas.
